Australian Wildflowers – Version 1.2 submitted for Approval

October 12, 2012

I’ve finally submitted an update to Australian Wildflowers. Although only a minor update it does feature various improvements including:

  • Optimisation for iPhone 5 and iOS 6.
  • An additional 70 flowers with high resolution photographs
  • Addressing an issue that affected the ‘Identify’ menu images displaying correctly on iOS 6
  • A cleaner user interface for ease-of-use
  • Fixes to ‘stretching’ issue on some images
  • Pinch/double-tap zoom function to zoom in on large flower photographs
  • Improved overall quality of many flower photographs

Hopefully this update will be released within the next week.  I’m still plugging away on a major update that will incorporate more user requested features and a large number of additional flowers added to the database. I’m currently sourcing high resolution images for this release.

Here are some screenshots that show slight changes to the UI:

Touch Learn Know – Weather & Seasons

September 5, 2012

Touch Learn Know – Weather & Seasons was released for the iPad today.

It’s a little side project I’ve been tinkering on over the past few months to give myself a break from the ‘Australian Wildflowers’ update (still in progress).

‘Touch Learn Know’ started out as a bit of a test of concept app (designed for classroom use) that I think turned out good enough for release.

Here’s the desciption:

Touch Learn Know – Weather & Seasons
How’s the weather today? Is it windy, rainy, sunny, cloudy, stormy or snowy? Which season is your favorite?

Write, listen, speak, draw, paint, discover and explore the wonderful world of weather and seasons through the exciting, interactive and educational Touch Learn Know – Weather & Seasons.

Designed by teachers to encourage the process of inquiry with an investigative and visual approach, children will love learning about weather/seasonal words, sounds and objects through a variety of richly educational activities and tools.

Australian Wildflowers in Top 5 Reference Apps! ~ Update in progress

May 17, 2012

Over the past few months I’ve received a number of emails from users of Australian Wildflowers asking when an update will be released. Many users have requested specific flowers to be included as well as suggesting great feature ideas for the next version. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me, your feedback and encouragement is awesome. In regards to the update, it is still a while away. I am working on it (part-time). I am adding a large number of new flowers to the database as well as optimising the interface and quality of the photographs for use on the retina iPad. Sourcing high quality images is tricky. Tonight I was delighted to see that it’s made it to 5th position in the iTunes store Reference chart! Great. Stay tuned for more information!
